One hundred and fifty years ago today General William Larmier staked a one mile claim of land in what was then called Denver City after the territorial Governor of Kansas James W. Denver. The city of Denver was not incorporated until 1861. In the past one hundred fifty years things have changed just a little.
To mark this occasion I figured a image of the city skyline would be appropriate but instead of the often taken image from the location I was situated I wanted to emphasize the new development in the Platte River Valley area seen on the right side of the frame. Denver has grown quite a bit in the past one hundred and fifty years, but in the next few years this scene will even be something of the past.
Stop by tomorrow for Day 23 of Thirty Days 2008.
