The Getaway Monday image this week takes us north of the border to Butchart Gardens located outside of Victoria, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. Spending some time there during a vacation a few years ago I spent much time with my macro lens getting close with many of the roses and other flowers in the gardens. Just prior to leaving I came across a group of flowers in a quiet part of the park and spent close to thirty minutes just on these flowers. With the macro lens it is possible to get a shallow depth of field (having a few items in focus) which is what I explored in this photograph.
A picture tells a story. With so many ways to tell a story, a picture not only communicates the vision I see but allows viewers to interpret the story in their own way.
The enjoyment of communicating stories through images has been with me since I was young, and it has grown over the years. Working as a software implementation consultant and now photographer my business and artistic knowledge allows me to look at projects from a a center point. This balance lets me refine my photographic vision and tell the necessary story which will make your next project exciting and successful.
