The getaway Monday image for this week is from the Imperial Valley of California is about two hours east of San Diego. During one of my trips to the valley to photograph I headed back to San Diego a different way as I made my way through the agriculture fields of the valley. While doing so a brief rain shower passed over the area making the paved roads wet and some of the dirt roads muddy. I didn’t think much of this until maybe fifteen minutes later when the sun came out. At this time I was heading along a two lane highway and Plaster City was right ahead. I pulled over on the side of the road and had about 10 minutes of opportunity to photograph the scene prior to the road drying out.
You may wonder what is in Plaster City, the answer is a United States Gypsum plant which processes the materials from a nearby gypsum quarry.
