Driving along the west coast I made a stop in Solvang, California. Solvang is often called “The Danish Capitol of America”. As I wondered through the town you could definitely understand why this is the case. The Mission was built in the early 1800’s and then one hundred years later a large amount of land was purchased by a group of Danish-Americans who wanted a place far from midwestern winters. After I finished eating my delicious danish pastries I started capturing some of this distinctive architecture. The green roof in this image struck me with the viivid colors on a clear blue sky day and how it showed some of this architecture of Solvang.
