CenturyLink in the Denver Skyline

Centurylink in the Denver Skyline at Dusk

From the Archives

It was just over four years when on the way home at one of the most popular locations to obtain an evening skyline photograph of Denver.  For a while it was only myself and a news truck from one of the location television stations.  The reason for stopping to get this image as it was the first night the new CenturyLink logo was illuminated over the city of Denver.  In the past month the Qwest name and blue beacon had been removed with the new company name lifted into place.

Denver from East High School

Denver from East High School

From the Archives

On a windy spring day I was able to head up to the clock tower of East High School, which is the oldest high school in Denver but not the oldest school building. The original East High School at 19th and Stout was demolished in 1925. The East High School building has a clock tower modeled after Independence Hall in Philadelphia. This tower sits 162 feet high and provides views of the Denver area from the location of the school near City Park. For this image I took some steps backs to include the lines and shadows entering the tower to provide a feel for the space in the building.

Top of the Dunes

Top of the San Dunes in Colorado

From the Archives

Located in southern Colorado the Great Sand Dunes are still slowing building as the wind blows sand and soil deposits from the Rio Grande and its tributaries. Even with the daily changes with the blowing wind the dunes remain familiar to most who visit. There are plenty of photographic opportunities in the dunes whether using black and white or color as your palette. For this photograph, it was the lines of the dunes and contrast of the blue sky which drew me to capture this image on an early morning in May 2008.

Colorado Convention Center in the Spring

Colorado Convention Center in the Spring

From the Archives

Spring is here in the Mile High City. This image was taken a few years ago outside the Colorado Convention Center in spring as the leaves were starting to come back to life on the trees outside the center on Speer. With the snowiest months in the Denver in March and April you never know when spring will truly arrive, however on this year it was the start of spring for sure and hopefully it will be an enjoyable spring in Denver this year as well.

Towers in Downtown Denver

Towers in Downtown Denver

From the Archives

Over the years I have noticed some potential images while driving and this is one of them. As I was heading home a couple of times I noticed how the Daniels and Fisher Tower sits in front of the Four Seasons giving the contrast between the old and new in Denver and how they work together.
