Recent Work

You never know what to expect when spring is around in Denver, it could be 70 degrees one day and snow the next.  With this variety this makes it a great time to photograph around the city as the variety in color and potential for the snow in the city or mountains remains. On this day I was photographing around City Park and decided to make my way towards the golf course where I found trees in full bloom. Using this as a foreground I framed the city of Denver behind and naturally the mountains as well for this image.

Recent Work

A couple of months ago as I was walking towards Civic Center Park I noticed a reflection of the Colorado State Capitol building when looking at the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center.  With some traffic restrictions in the area I was able to have a little more flexibility with where I could stand on Lincoln Avenue to position the reflection in the ideal spot of the building mixing the branches of government into one image.

Recent Work

This year I went to the Denver Botanical Gardens during the Blossom of Lights event which is held in December each year. With an impressive display of lights in a winter setting I strolled through the gardens enjoying the holiday lights which overtook the gardens. With my camera in hand I started taking pictures of the various displays and once the last of twilight had diminished I started to try some different ways to capture the lights as in this image here which was taken looking up at a large tree filled with lights.

Last month as I was walking by the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center I started to follow the pillars until I found the reflection of the State Capitol Building. The Colorado Judicial Center was completed about three years ago and is home to the Supreme Court of the State as well as the Court of Appeals. With the design of the new building there is plenty to photograph on the building itself as it sits just south of Lincoln Park in the Civic Center area.

Recent Work

On May 1st it snowed a little in Colorado, which is not that surprising at all. Noticing it was May 1st, I headed out to Washington Park with my camera and photographed for a little while in the park. It was eight years prior that I captured the original Snowy May Day image so I headed to that location.  It has been interesting to see this tree grow over the years. This year it was really a dusting of snow on the ground which as the temperatures rose quickly melted into a wet Denver day.

Recent Work

It has been about ten days since a snowstorm provided some great contrast in the Denver of winter and spring. Walking around City Park I found this group of trees showing their blossoms as the snow provided a winter covering on them. With the snow continuing the fall it wasn’t long until the trees were fully covered in heavy snow on their branches.  This snow didn’t last long as the temperatures started to warm up again during the week quickly making the snowstorm a memory to look back at in pictures and memories.

Recent Work

Over the weekend a fair amount of spring snow fell over Denver. With the warm temperatures many trees were already showing their blossoms which made for a nice scene to photograph. I headed out in the City Park area with my camera to capture some of these scenes.  As I walked through the park I quickly found trees with red or white blossoms as well as trees already showing their leaves for the summer season. These colors made for an interesting contrast to the black, grey and white normally you would find in the winter.

 

Recent Work

Just a couple of months ago during a brief snow in Denver I headed towards Civic Center Park to photograph. As the snow tapered off the foothills started to become visible in the distance. With the fresh snow on the grass and the fall color in the leaves I found myself on the capitol steps to capture this image west through Civic Center Park towards the City and County of Denver building.
