The Week-End (July 14th)

July 14, 2012 By Neil

The weekend brings some drier conditions than the much needed rain last weekend.  Hopefully it did not rain out any event you had planned for the weekend.  Plenty going on around the city this weekend as well, with some of the following events in the Denver area.

  • The Colorado Irish Festival takes over Clement Park this weekend in Littleton
  • The Horseshoe Market is once again visiting northwest Denver today from 9:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.
  • Today is the South Pearl Jam on the Old South Pearl Street.  The event is from noon to 10:00 P.M. and entry is $5
  • The Colorado Rockies are back in town with the first series after the all-star break.  Philadelphia is in town with a game this evening and a Sunday afternoon match-up as well.
  • The Colorado Black Arts Festival is this weekend in City Park
  • The Moonlight Classic Bicycle Ride is this evening starting at Civic Center Park
  • In Olde Town Arvada the 15th Annual Blues n BBQ is tomorrow from noon – 9:00 P.M.
  • City Park Jazz continues with another performance at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday.

The Week-End (July 7th)

July 7, 2012 By Neil

Rain has moved into the area for the weekend and while it is needed it should be spotty and not impact outdoor activities too much.

Some items happening this weekend in Denver:

  • The Cherry Creek Arts Festival continues through Sunday in North Cherry Creek.
  • Up in the mountains the 2012 season of the Central City Opera continues its run through August 12th.
  • The Yves Saint Laurent exhibit ends on Sunday at the Denver Art Museum.
  • Jazz in the Park is on Sunday evening at City Park.  The event starts at 6:00 P.M.

The Week-End (June 30th)

June 30, 2012 By Neil

This weekend marks the half way point for 2012 as the first half of the year comes to a close.  With 4th of July this year in the middle of the week, it will be an interesting upcoming week with event and also people taking days off.  However before next week is this weekend and the following events near Denver.

  • The Greeley Stampede continues through July 4th just a 45 minute drive north of Denver.
  • The Colorado Rockies are in town this weekend with fireworks on display after the game.  Even if you don’t want to attend the game versus the San Diego Padres, make your way down to locations near the stadium to watch the display for free.  The homestand finishes on Sunday with an afternoon game.
  • The Colorado Rapids are home this evening against the Portland Timbers.
  • Jazz in the Park continues on Sunday evening starting at 6:00 PM in City Park.
  • Monday is a free day at the Museum of Nature and Science.

The Week-End (June 23rd)

June 23, 2012 By Neil

The first full weekend of summer brings plenty in the Denver area on a hot weekend.

  • From 10:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. today, 25th Avenue between Elliot and Federal will be transformed as part of the Better Block program. This is the first of the type to be brought to Denver.  The event is free.
  • Today is the Westword Music Showcase Festival in the Golden Triangle.  Plenty of music at 12 indoor venues as well as an outdoor stage.  Note there are age restrictions at some of the venues.
  • Terminal Velocity: The AIGA Typeface Bike Race is today, however registration is closed for this event.
  • The Journeys Backyard BBQ Tour comes to Colorado Mills today.  This free event will include extreme sports and bands, including Eve6.
  • The Cherry Blossom Festival is in Lower Downtown Denver today and tomorrow.  This is a free event to attend.
  • If you are looking to escape the heat, then head on up to Creek at the Peak in Idaho Springs for downriver raft and kayak races.  This will also be in Golden on Sunday.
